Women Leaders in Sport Grant Program

Overview

This program aims to provide women with development opportunities to reach their leadership potential in the sports industry.

The program has the following components:
1. Leadership workshops for individuals and organisations
- Enable women to develop leadership capabilitie and to learn and network with like-minded women in a supportive and safe environment. In addition, the participants learn to effectively manage the challenges within their sport and life in general and gain invaluable support from the experiences and knowledge of other women.

2. Development grants for individuals and organisations
- Supports individual women to gain skills, knowledge and qualifications to progress on their leadership pathway.
- Grants of up to $3,000 are available to support course/training fees.

Who Can Apply?

The main assessment criteria include:
1. Individuals
- Applicant’s leadership aspirations.
- Quality of the application that sufficient information is provided to demonstrate how the applicant and their sporting organisation will benefit from attending the WLIS Leadership Workshop or the proposed course/training.

2. Organisations
- The organisation has a clear selection process for the women targeted to attend the workshop.
- Quality of the application that sufficient information is provided to demonstrate the short term and long term impacts on the participants attending the WLIS Leadership Workshops.
- The organisation is committed to support the participants with the post workshop activities/projects to extend the learning from the workshop.
- The proposed project will enhance the leadership capabilities of the participants.
- The proposed project has measurable objectives and outcomes and a well-planned timeline and milestones.
- Quality of the application that sufficient information is provided to demonstrate the impacts of the project on the participants, the organisation and the sport.
- The organisation will demonstrate their commitment to follow up the project to assist the participants to progress on their leadership pathway.
- The proposed budget is balanced, realistic, well justified and good value for money, and with organisation contribution if possible.

Eligible Activities

Eligible expenditure include:
1. Leadership workshops for individuals and organisations
- Course/training fees.
- Travel and accommodation costs borne by successful applicants residing in rural/remote areas to attend the approved course/training.

2. Development grants for individuals and organisations
- Course fees
- Presenter fees
- Long distance travel (>200km) for presenters and participants (e.g. airfares, coach/bus/train tickets, car hire or petrol reimbursement)
- Translator or interpreter costs

Main Assessment Criteria

The main assessment criteria include:
1. Individuals
- Applicant’s leadership aspiration.
- Impact/benefit of the proposed course/training to the applicant, the supporting organisation or the sport.
- Value for money of the proposed project.
- Quality of the application that sufficient information is provided to demonstrate how the proposed project/training will benefit the applicant to progress the leadership pathway.

2. Organisations
- The proposed project will enhance the leadership capabilities of the participants
- The proposed project has well planned timeline, milestones and measurable objectives and outcomes
- The proposed budget is balanced, realistic, well justified and good value for money, and with organisation contribution if possible
- The organisation will have follow-up leadership development with the project participants
- Quality of the application that sufficient information is provided to demonstrate how the proposed project will benefit the applicant to progress the leadership pathway.

Restrictions

The following are ineligible for funding:
- Venue hire 
- Catering
- Accommodation
- Administration costs
- Materials and resources costs
